Kavidhai variyin suvai artham puriyum varai
- The charm in poetry exists only until you understand the lyrics

Gangai neerin suvai, kadalil serum varai
- The sweetness of the Ganges exists only until it mingles with the
sea.

Kaadhal suvaiondru thaane kaatru veesum varai
- The sweetness of love is the one that exists as long as the wind
blows.

Vaanamillamale boomi undagalam
- The earth could have formed without the sky

varthai illamale baashai undagalaam
- Languages could have been formed without words

kaadhal illamal ponaal vazhkai undaguma?
- But without love, life would have never come into being

vasam illamale vanna poo pookkalam
- Colorful flowers can bloom without fragrance

vaasal illamale katru vandhadalam
- The breeze can come in even if there were no doors

nesam illadha vazhvil pasam undaguma?
- But there can be no affection in life without love.
